Perpetual Courses
With the exception of new Institute-sponsored courses all courses will be considered Perpetual. This means that all lessons will be availble to students immediately upon enrollment.

Before the Courses
Once you register, you will be sent a confirmation e-mail, which will include the Website address for the course and your student account number and password. Once you log in, you will receive a brief introduction to the course. At that time you will also go to the message board to introduce yourself to the other students in the course. This will allow you to immediately start a relationship with the the students currently or recently participating in the course. If there is a required text book for the course, you should purchase it as soon as possible.

During the Course
All lessons will be immediately available to you. This will allow you to progress at your own pace -- provided that you finish all course requirements within six months. Each lesson will include a lecture and specifically developed exercises designed to teach you a new skill. Your "homework" will be to return to the message board to comment on the previous lecture and your experiences with the exercise. You will receive beneficial feedback from the instructor and the other course members. The student forum for each lesson will be a great way to share your experiences. Lessons may be accessed from any computer. Instructor comments are posted a minimum of twice each week.

All lessons will be designed to build upon previous instruction. Therefore, it is highly recommended that they be completed in the order presented.

You should expect to spend about 3 - 4 hours per week on a course provided that you complete a least two lessons per week.

After the Course
Upon posting your assignment to the student forum for the final lesson of the course, the course quiz link will appear. Once we receive the e-mailed results for your quiz, you will be sent a graduation e-mail and a link for the end-of-course survey. Once we receive the survey, results we will provide you with a "graduation e-mail," which includes a download link for a PDF version of your completion certificate. (You may also request a paper copy of the certificate.) In order to get credit for a course, the course assignments, quiz, and survey must be received within six months of your enrollment date.

Fixed Courses
New Institute-sponsored courses -- and some courses which are offered by guest instructors -- are normally set up as "fixed Courses," meaning that they are set up to start on a specific date with lessons typically being released on Tuesdays and Mondays. The next three paragraphs apply to Fixed Courses only.

Before the Course
Once you register, you will be sent a confirmation e-mail. Approximately 3 days before the course start date, you will receive an e-mail giving you the Website address for the course, a username, and a password. Once you log in, you will receive a brief introduction to the course. At that time you will also go to the message board to introduce yourself to the other students in the course. This will allow you to immediately start a relationship with the rest of the class. If there is a required text book for the course, you should purchase it prior to the start date.

During the Course
Twice a week the instructor will post a lecture and specifically developed exercises designed to teach you a new skill. Your "homework" will be to return to the message board to comment on the previous lecture and your experiences with the exercise. You will receive beneficial feedback from the instructor and the other course members. The message board will be a great way to share your experiences. All lessons will remain available for six months from your enrollment date in order to accommodate students who may have conflicts with travel or other disruptions. Lessons may be accessed from any computer.

All lessons will be designed to build upon previous instruction. Therefore, it is highly recommended that they be completed in the order presented.

You should expect to spend about 3 - 4 hours per week on a course. This includes reading approximately 20 - 30 pages from the text.

After the Course
During the final week of the course, you will be asked to complete an online evaluation of the course. To receive a course completion certificate, you must comment on the lessons and exercises, submit the evaluation, and take a brief open-book exam. All course requirements will need to be completed within six months of the your enrollment date.

Privacy Policy
Many courses will require that students post the results for assignments and/or encourage that students interact on forums. Such postings will be available to our staff and all students enrolled in that class. Every effort must be made by the student to protect the privacy of others when discussing another person such as a patient, client, associate, or family member. We prefer that real names and specific identifying information be omitted from student responses. Referring to a subject as a subject, client, patient, or associate should suffice. Additionally, reasonable care should be made by the student not to share sensitive information about themselves regarding their physical or mental health.

Refund Policy
  • Fixed Courses: For courses that are scheduled to begin on a specific date students may request either to re-enroll in a later class, move their enrollment to a course of equal or lesser tuition, move their enrollment to a course of greater value (and pay the difference), or reguest a full refund. No refunds will be given on or after the course start date. Should a student have a problem fulfilling course requirements within the specified time, an extension can be requested. We will make every effort to assist students who face unexpected events, which may interfere with timely course completions.
  • Free Courses: No refund will be given to members who enroll in a scheduled course as a result of their "free course" eligibility. If a member determines prior to the course starting that they will not be able to participate, they may request that their enrollment be shifted to another course.
  • Perpetual Courses: For courses that are available to students immediately after enrollment or other downloadable training products or services, no refunds will be given. However, we will make every effort to assure that the courses and training material is accurately described and meets students' expectations.
  • Technical Issues: Every effort will be made to assure that our servers and Internet connection are maintained so that students can reasonably access courses and other training materials. Our courses are designed to be accessed with a wide range or computers, Internet browsers, and Internet connections. If we should experience an Internet outage due to a failure of our equipment or our wholesale Internet Service Provider and such an outage disrupts availabiity of our course materials for over 48 hours, we will entertain any reasonable requests for extensions and/or refunds. Nevertheless, it has been our experience that technical difficulties have been due to student hardware, software, or connection issues. As we cannot be responsible for technical issues regarding a student's computer or the reliability of their Internet connection, no refunds will be considered in those cases. However, we will provide access to Frequently Asked Questions and make every effort to assist a student overcome such difficulties.

Our courses are designed to be easy, flexible and fun. It is a great way to maintain your professional competence while joining a community of equally motivated practitioners. Our intent is to increase your skills by providing you with information and techniques that you can immediately apply to your practice.
